The ball is sitting....not moving...so it has no KINETIC energy...it has  POTENTIAL energy

 

GPE =    mgh =  2 kg  9.81 m/sec^2  40 m = 784.8  kg-m^2/sec^2 = 784.8 N-m = 748.8 j
