1-(-1)=1+1=2
Subtracting a negative is basicly like adding the same numbers
When subtracting a negative, you can just add the absolute value of the negative you are subtracting from the other. Two negatives make a positive, and since you are subtracting (negative) a negative (two negatives), you are simply adding.
1-(-1) turns into...
1+1
