In 2001 there were 738,114 departures.

2001 = 365 days(not a leap year)

738,114 / 365 =~2,022 departures per day

2,022 / 24 =~ 84 departures per hour

1 hour = 3,600 seconds

3,600 / 84 = ~43 seconds - mean number of seconds between departure time.
