Joseph paid $0.48 in sales tax for a doll for his sister. (What a nice brother). If the tax rate is six percent, what was the price of the doll?

6% x = .48

x = .48/.06 = 8.00       Price = $ 8

Thanks , EP

Another rule

6%  ...... =  [ 6. ] %

Move the decimal two places to the left and drop the % sign  =   .06
