1.   Both will be functions.....no single "x" will have two different "y's"  associated with it.....it is "one-to-one"

 

And a "one-to-one" function's inverse will also be a function, i.e, "one-to-one"

 

The second answer is the correct one

y  =  7x^2 - 3

 

y + 3  =  7x^2

 

[ y + 3 ] / 7   =  x^2

 

±√  [ (y + 3) / 7 ]  =  x

 

±√ [ ( x + 3) / 7 ]  ⇒    inverse
