The cylindrical roller for a cricket pitch is 1.5 m wide and has a radius of 0.3 m.
a) Calculate the curved surface area of the roller.
b) What is the minimum number of revolutions the roller would have to make to roll the cricket pitch once
if the pitch is 20 m long and 3 m wide? (Ignore any revolutions needed to turn the roller around.)
Surface area includes the two ends 2 * pi r^2 = 2 pi (.3)2 m2
plus the lateral area pi * d * width = pi (.6)(1.5) m2
3 meters wide would mean yo would have to make 3 m / 1.5 m = 2 passes to cover the pitch
20 m long divided by the circumference ( pi (.6)) x 2 passes = ......... revs
