Note, NSS.....

a^-m   =   1 / a^m           and       ( a^m )ⁿ    =  a^{m * n}

So we have

1 / 8^2/3    *   a^6/3

And  we can write

1 / ³√ [ 8 ² ]     *  a²

1 / ³√64  * a²  

1 / 4  * a²

a² / 4

9.  We want to multiply top/bottom by the congugate of 2 - √5 ⇒  2 + √5

2 + √5        (2 + √5)

Let's do these separately

( 2 + √5 )  ( 2   + √5)  =

2(2)  + 2√5 + 2√5  +  √5*√5  =

4 + 4√5 + 5 =

2(2)  - 2√5 + 2√5  -  √5*√5  =

4 - 5 =

Put  (1)  over (2)  and we have
