Two competing passenger trains create a new marketing plan, charging passengers a fixed amount and then a rate per mile.

Fast Track: $79.75 plus $0.20 a mile

Cheap Track: $149.50 plus $0.15 a mile

A one-way train ride from Denver to Boston is 1,972 miles. If C is the cost of the ride and M is the number of miles one way, which train is the cheapest, what is the equation for the cheapest option, and how much money do you save?

A. Fast Track, the equation is C = 0.20M + 79.75, and I save $28.85

B. Fast Track, the equation is C = 79.75M + 0.20, and I save $99.60

C. Cheap Track, the equation is C = 149.50M + 0.15, and I save $99.75

D. Cheap Track, the equation is C = 0.15M + 149.50, and I save $28.85

Fast Track cost =  79.75 +  1972(.20) = $474.15

Cheap Track cost = 149.50 + 1972(.15)  = $445.30

D is correct
