Billy is making compost. To create good compost quickly, the ingredient mixture should have a C:N ratio near 30:1 The table below shows the carbon and nitrogen percentages (by weight) of various common compostables. https://latex.artofproblemsolving.com/3/8/1/381b4ade4680873806d13de887fd09317b088684.png

After mixing a pound of coffee grounds and 6 pounds of rotten vegetables, how many pounds of dry leaves should he add to obtain a 30:1 C:N ratio? Express your answer rounded to the nearest pound.

Chris, this is an art of problem solving questions, we have a loose agreement not to answer these.

It is against your (or your parent's) agreement with AoPS to even ask for outside help.

AoPS stands for    Art of problem Solving.

How do you expect to learn Mathematical problem solving skills if you go getting other people to solve your problems for you!

Quick review of AoPS Honor Code in case of classes (this is a class question, not alcumus, since when I searched the alcumus forum it yeilded no results.)

Note: I have done more that 5 AoPS classes, so don't tell me that this isn't the case.
