OK, in this situation, we want to "keep" the base "a" and add the exponents.

So...

a ^{(7/8) + (-3/4)} =

a ^{(7/8) + (-6/8)} =

a ^1/8

answer: ((a*a7)/8)

Second part

(8^((3/4))/(a*a7)^((3/4)))

I think that is the answer.
