this has to do with sin cos and tan too so i have a simple right triangle and it has 8 on the adjacent side and 18 on the hypothenuse side which would give me 8 over 18 so....i know your supposed to divide 8 over 18 but how do you know when to use which sin cos or tan afterwords?
Remember SOHCAHTOA
Sin is Opposite/Hypotenuse
Cos is Adjacent /Hypotenuse
Tan is Opposite/Adjacent
I learned another little "trick' to remember them...
Sin = Oh Heck !!
Cos = Another Hour
Tan = Of Algebra !!
I've got another one - use the first letters!

$$Sin\theta=\frac{opp}{hyp}\\
Cos\theta=\frac{adj}{hyp}\\
Tan\theta=\frac{opp}{adj}\\$$
Thanks Alan,
In some school in Australia they swap the hags for hobos because hags is derogatory.
But, I thought a lot of people in here would not know what a hobo was. I think it is just Australian slang.
I think "hobo" is not just an Australian term. Here's an extract from Wikipedia:
A hobo is a migratory worker or homeless vagabond—especially one who is penniless. The term originated in the Western—probablyNorthwestern—United States around 1890.[1] Unlike "tramps"—who work only when they are forced to, and "bums"—who do not work at all, "hobos" are itinerant workers.[1][2]
thanks melody for the help. but guys if you keep giving me diffrent advice on this i will get confused and wont remember it all lol
Well there you go! Thanks Alan.
Now zegroes, I am not sure if your comment was serious or not. I will assume that it was serious.
I think all the answers are the same but you have been offered a few ways to remember it. You just have to choose the one you like the best and forget about the others!
