How many inches in a foot pound

Mainly used in the U.S., but something to do with forces and torque. Also, for calculating energy in bullets, too, apparently!

It is similar to 12 in. = 1 foot, so 12 inch pounds = 1 foot pound.

What the heck is a foot pound?
