569.420

Write it with just one non-zero digit in front of the decimal point    5.69420

now get the point here I had to jump it over the 9 and over the 6.

so i had to jump it over two digits.  So the exponent is 2

NOW 569 is a big number (bigger than 1) so he exponent is positive

$$569.420=5.69420\times 10^2$$

If it had been a little number then the exponent would be negative :)
