General equation:

e^(i*x) = cos(x) + i*sin(x).       (1)

e^(i*pi/2) = cos(pi/2) + i*sin(pi/2) = i.       (2)

Take logs of both sides of (2)
i*pi/2 = ln(i)       (3)

Let y = i^i.    (4)

Take logs of both sides?of (4)
ln(y) = i*ln(i)      (5)

Use (3) in (5)
ln(y) = i*i*pi/2 so ln(y) = -pi/2   (6)

Exponentiate both sides of
y = e^(-pi/2) or y = 0.207879...

Use equation(1) but with x = pi to get e^(i*pi) = -1
