Example - Max had 34 cupcakes to bring to school for his class.  There are 31 kids in his class including Max but that day 4 were absent.  Each kid have one cupcake including Max.  How many cupcakes are left over?

 - 34-(31-4)=n

Something like this?

I think it wants you to set up a real world problem (such as my example) and translate it :)  I am pretty sure anyway haha
