A football team won 10 matches out of the total number of matches they played.If their team win percentage was 40 , then how many matches did they play in all?
so its answer is
40/100 * x = 10 ( S.1)
x = 10*100/40 (S.2)
x = 25 (S.3)
so this solution i just discovered from my Maths book!so i have a doubt that in (S.2) why are we multiplying 10 by 100 and dividing by 40 and not multiplying 10 by 40 and dividing by 100?like this
x= 10*40/100
so thats my doubt!can anyone explain me why?

So we have
(100/40)*(40/100) * x = 10* (100/40) notice that the fractions "cancel" on the left side !!! So we have...
x = 10 * (100/400) .......which is just "S2"
