Use substitution to get:

**A==504 - what Jet started with**

**B==672 - what John started with.**

672 - (1/3*672) ==672 - 224==**$448 - what Jon had in the end.**

Let Jet had money x

then John had 1176 - x

money left after John spent 1/9 = 8/9x

money left after John spent 1/3, = 2/3 (1176 - x)

Since both had same money left

So, 8/9x = 2/3 (1176 - x)

=> 8/9x = 784 - 2/3x

=> 14/9x = 784 => x = 504

So, Initally Jet had 504 and John had 672. In the end Jet will have 504 * 8/9 = 448

and John will have 672 * 2/3 = 448
