Hi!

I was doing some things on Alcumus, but I had trouble with this problem:

What is the x-coordinate of the point on the x-axis that is equidistant from points $A( -2, 0)$ and $B(0,4)$?

I was wondering how to do this, so can someone help?

Let the point be $(x,0)$. Use the distance formula to calculate the distances between this point and $A$ and this point and $B$. Equate the two, and solve for $x$.

I had calculated them, and i have received the statements: $x+2$ and the square root of $x^2+16$, which if they are equated to each other I get the answer $x=3$

To make sure, is this correct?
