If 107 people are going on a trip and only 2/3 of people are going how many are not goin?

So, of course we want to find one third of the 107 people. Usually, the word "of" means we should multiply. So, we do 107*1/3. But, for some reason the answer isn't quite what I thought it would be... It's not a whole number. It should be whole because what we are looking for is the number of people. I got 35 and more. I am guessing you would round down.

I expect that  the wording of this question is very poor.

107 people are going.   2/3 are going

that means that 107   IS   2/3

so

1/3 would be half that much  =  1/2   of  107 = 53.5 children.

NOW,   unless some poor child got cut in half with a sharp axe, this is impossible!
