Hello anonymous!

a/b+b/a=5

a/b = x

x + 1/x = 5

x² + 1 = 5x

x² - 5x + 1 = 0

x1;2 = 2,5 +- √(2,5² -1)

x1 = 4,791287785

x2 = 0,208712153

a = 4,791287785 * b

a/b+b/a=5

4,791287785 * b / b + b / 4,791287785 * b = 5

4,791287785 + 1 / 4,791287785 = 5

5 = 5

Help ! Where is my mistake ?

Regards  :- )

You haven't made a mistake asinus, you just haven't completed the calculation of what was asked for (namely the squares of the ratios)!

I'll give you points anyway!
