n=c/v, where n=index of refraction, c=speed of light in vacuum, v=speed of light in the medium

2.42=3 X 10^8/v

2.42v=3 X 10^8

v=3 X 10^8 / 2.42

v=123,966,942 m/sec  or 1.24 X 10^8 m/sec. speed of light in diamond.
