Insert a rational and irrational numbers between 3 & 5.

A rational number is any number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction of two integers.

3.1 can be written  as  31/10

3.5394172 = 35394172/10000000

4 = 4  or  4/1

4.5 = 45/10  or  9/2

and so on...

An irrational number is any real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers.

One of the irrational numbers between 3 and 5, well known to us, is:       Image result for pi

There are an infinite number of irrational numbers between 3 and 5

just the same as there is an infintie number of rational numbers between 3 and 5

pi is one of the irrational ones BUT remember that 3.14 IS NOT PI.    It is only an approximation for pi.

3.14 is a rational number.
