Corey spies a bald eagle in a tall tree. He was able to measure the angle of elevation to the bird from where he stands at 62°. The leaves on the tree make it difficult for Corey to watch the bird, so he moves 10 feet further away from the tree to get a better view. Now his angle of elevation is 56°. What is the height of the tree? Round your answer to the nearest foot. Trying to check my answer, I used law of sines to solve and want to know if I get it or not.

A sloppy question.

To begin with we need to know whether the 10ft away from the tree was on level ground or up or down a slope.

Further we are not told where the bird was in the tree, at the top or further down in the branches, or are we supposed to assume ?

Tighten up on the details and we may be able to do something.

Yes it is a sloppy question but you are basically expected to assume that it is the height of the bird that you are finding and that the ground is all level.

The answer I got was 39 feet.   Do you want me to explain further or did you just want to check your answer.?

Thanks Tiggsy,

I'll take your word that my answer is flawed.

If the question asker bothers to respond I will do it over :))
