We know that the ratio is 8:5 and we also know that the total amount of the toys is 351
How do we get the individual amount?
8+5 = 13 combined ratios of red and white toys.
8 / 13 x 351 =216 red toys
5/ 13 x 351 =135 white toys.
8 : 5 means that we have 13 equal parts
So.....
Number of red is 8 of these parts = (8/13) * 351 = 216
Number of white is 5 of these parts = (5/13) * 351 = 135
