in a village the number of houses and the number of flats are in the ratio 7:4 the number of flats and the number of bungalows are in the ratio 8:5 . there are 50 bungalows in the village . how many houses are in the village    

 

H stands for Houses 

F stands for Flats  

B stands for Bungalows  

 

F:B is 8:5 

B is 50

F:B is F:50  so   F = 80  

 

H:F is 7:4  

F is 80

H:F is H:80  so   H = 140

so  H/B = 14/5     if B= 50

      H/50  = 14/5      H = 50 (14/5) = 140 houses
