the plants that Lorna grew for her science project averaged 6 inches in height. Two weeks later, the plant averaged 9 inches in height. What was the percent increase in the average height of the plants?

50%, I would think at least, as 50% of 6 is 3, and 6+3 is 9.

I'm guess it like this so...

 

6         x

---- = -----

9        100

 

make the butter fly

 

100x6=600

9x=600 draw the line down its / so devide 

 9    9 cross out the right side now its just the left but the x stays in right

600x9=5400

 

x=5400 

any number equals 5400 but awser is( x=5400)

This is HOW you are supposed to do it:

 

9/6 = 1.5 -1 =.50 X100 =50% Average percentage increase.
