Marc is growing three bean plants as part of a science experiment. Plant A is 1/3 inch tall. Plant B is 3/4 inch tall. Plant C is 5/6 inch tall. Order the plants from shortest to tallest.

Ornstein is correct, ABC is the answer.

Right now we have:

A =1/3

B = 3/4

C =  5/6 

To figure this out let's make all of the measurements have a common deminator (same number of the bottom of the fraction)

A =1/3*4/4

A = 4/12

------

B=3/4*3/3

B = 9/12

-----

C=5/6*2/2

C = 10/12

 

Now we can easily compare these and see that A is the smallest, B is the next biggest, and C is the biggest!
