The length of one side a triangular lot is 6 m less than three times the length of the second side. The third side is 8 m longer than the first side. The perimeter of the lot is 80m. Find the length of all three sides.

Let the second side  = x

The first side is 3x - 6

The third side is  (3x - 6)  + 8   =   3x + 2    and we have

(3x - 6) + (x) + (3x + 2) = 80    simplify

7x - 4   = 80      add 4 to both sides

7x  = 84      divide both sides by 7

x = 12m   this is the second side

(3(12) - 6)  = (36 - 6)  = 30m  this is the first side

(3(12) + 2)  = (36 + 2)  = 38m    this is the third side

1st, side=15.60 meters

2nd.side=40.80 meters (3x the 1st. less 6m)

3rd side=23.60 meters(1st. + 8)

Total of all three sides=80 meters

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!.
