First of all, why are you just trying to make us do your math homework. Second of all try to figure it out by yourself first.

 

Solving for this answer is not that hard, you would just, like you normally do. -4 on both side, and the answer would either by -2 or 2.

 

Just do your own homework from now on.

Solve for q over the real numbers:
abs(q + 4) = 6

Split the equation into two possible cases:
q + 4 = 6 or q + 4 = -6

Subtract 4 from both sides:
q = 2 or q + 4 = -6

Subtract 4 from both sides:
Answer: q = 2            or            q = -10
