I am a number less than 1000. The sum of my first and last digits is 8. When I am written in the reverse order, my new number is 16 less than three times the original number. If my middle digit is zero. What number am I?

NUmbers that sum to 8

0 and 8

1 and 7

2 and 6

3 and 5

4 and 4

The first number should be smaller than the next so trying them we have

008 (doesn't work bc it 8 which doesn't have a middle number of 0)

107 (107*3=321-16=305) doesn't equal 701

206 (206*3=318-16=602) works

So the original number was 206.
