firstly, when you write 9.8^2 on the forum I would really like you to use the sup button that is located above the smilies.
you just press 9.8 then press the sup button the curser will be placed exactly where you need to enter 2, then just move the curser to the end and continue typing normally.
Please try it.

2 Now, why are you having a problem with this? Just enter it straight into your calculator.
