She is going to hang the streamers along the perimeter of the ceiling and then from each corner to the opposite corner. What is the minimum number of streamer rolls that Natasha needs to buy for her party? Show your work.

She needs a perimeter    18 x 4 = 72 ft

PLUS TWO diagonals  

   Pythagorean theorem for right triangles

        diagonal = sqrt (18^2 + 18^2) = 25.46 ft

 

{72 + 2(25.46))  ft  /  25 ft/roll = 4.92 rolls    She will need FIVE rolls
