+11 I put in sqrt(-1)+7 to get Y, the -1 is X. When I did this I got 7+1i. That should not be the answer because I am trying to plot these points. Why is this and what is the real answer

So.....
You should have gotten i + 7 as a result
Note......if this is a root of a quadratic, realize that not all quadratics have "real" roots that can plotted in the "real" plane
P.S. - If this one root....then 7 + i would be another
