Find the number that we can place in the box so that the resulting expression can be factored as the product of two linear factors.
\[3mn - 6m + 5n + \boxed{\phantom{00}}\]
Sorry! This is just really confusing to me right now :(
3mn - 6m + 5n + ?
Factoring "3mn - 6m"
3m(n - 2) + 5n + ?
We need to have it look like this:
3m(n - 2) + 5(n - 2)
So: ? = -10
Checking:
3mn - 6m + 5n - 10
(3m + 5)(n - 2)
Thank you so so much! :)
