1. A sheet of metal of unknown composition has been determined to have a mass of 17.5 kg, and its dimensions are 300.0 cm long, 100.0 cm wide, and 0.25 cm thick. What is the density of this piece of sheet metal expressed in g/cm^3?

17.5  kg  =   17500 g

 

The volume of the solid is

300 * 100 * .25  = 7500 cm^3

 

So...the density  is     17500 g  / 7500 cm^3   ≈  2.33 g / cm^3
