We want to use a process by which we keep dividing until we have a "0"  whole number 

 

First, divide 105 by 5  and we have

 

105 /  5   =   21  whole number   and   0  remainder

 

Now,  divide  21 by 5

 

21 / 5   =   4 whole number  and 1 remainder

 

Now....divide  4  by 5

 

4 / 5  =   0 whole number   and   4  remiander

 

Read the remainders from  bottom  to  top  =     410

 

And this is the  base 5 representation of 105  =  4105

4*5^2 + 1*5^1 + 0*5^0 = 105, so 4105 = 10510
