if you have 5 pairs of shoes in a bag and choose two random shoes, how many ways can you pull out two unmatched shoes?

You can pull any 5 on the first try, then any of the last 4 on the second try

5*4=20

Thats just the logically way to do it.

I don't know if your teacher has you doing it a defferent way

Pull one shoe out and there are 9 shoes left in the bag  ONE matches and EIGHT do not match....there are then EIGHT ways to pull out a shoe that does not match.
