A group of friends is out at a restaurant. Just before the bill comes, two of them climb out the bathroom window to avoid paying their share. The bill comes, and it's $63. One of the other friends says, "Those guys stiffed us-again! But look. If everyone throws in an extra two bucks, we'll cover the bill."
The question is how many people were in the original group?

Let the original number of friends==F
Let the share of each friend ==S

F * S ==63,
[F - 2]*S + [F - 2] * 2==63, solve for F, S

Use the quadratic formula to get:

F ==9 - original number of friends
S==$7 - original share of each friend.
