From the graph you can see that it is a (4 x 3) rectangle with two (right) triangles attached (base 4 h 2)
You have been shown how to do several of these similar graphs.....try to figure out an answer and get back to me if you have questions......
I don't get it! Do I have to do the triangles first with pythagorean theorem?
Let's see...
Two short sides of the rectangle = 2 x 3 units = 6
and FOUR triangle legs (they are all of equal length)....you can use pythag theorom or distance formula for points
using pyhtag x^2+x^2 = 4^2
2x^2 =4^2
x^2 = 2 x = sqrt 2
FOUR of them = 4 sqrt 2 = 5.66 units 5.66 + 6 =11.66 units
It appears YOU GOT IT!!!!
Now work on the area.....add the rectangle area + TWO triangle areas = ?
AREA of rectangle = H x W = 3 x 4 = 12 sq units
Area of EACH triangle = 1/2 b * h b = 4 h= 2 1/2 bh = 1/2 4 *2 = 4
there are TWO triangles total triangle area = 8
12 + 8 = 20 sq units total area
Thank you so much! I feel like the area was easier and yet I couldn't figure it out lol but i get it now
