Please look at the image. I already figured out b, which I'm pretty sure is 2pi/3. However, I'm confused on figuring out a. This is what I tried:

y= -2sin(3x)+1

y= -2sin(3*-pi/12)+1

y= -2sin(-pi/4)+1

I used the unit circle to find sin(-pi/4).

y=-2(-√2/2)+1

y=√2+1

y=2.41421356

My answer isn't correct, so could anyone please explain how I should solve for b? Thanks!

When x = - pi/12     what is sin   -3 pi/12  ?         =      - sqrt2/2

-2  *  -sqrt2/2  +1 = a

Do simialr for 'b'        2* sin 3b + 1 = 1

                                  2 * sin 3b = 0

                                        sin 3b = 0

                                           b =    pi/3

Thanks EP

Are you happy with the answer nimi?

I see you have given EP a point, that is nice, but It would be good if you responded as well.
