Ten minutes after he left his home, Gerald was 40 miles from his grandmothers house. Them 22 minutes after you left, he was 34 minutes from her house. If he was traveling toward his grandmothers house at a constant rate and reached her house after 90 minutes, how far away from her house does he live?

There are a lot of errors in your question!!!. For example, you say "Them 22 minutes after you left, he was 34 minutes from her house" What does that mean? Why can't you copy the question as it is written down? In the above quote, after 22 minutes he must have been 34 MILES not 34 MINUTES from her house.

At any rate, 10 minutes after he left his house, he was 40 miles from her house, which means he covered that 40 miles in 90 - 10=80 minutes. So, his speed was:40 miles/80 minutes or 1/2 mile per minute. Or 30mph.

Therefore, he must have covered the distance to his grandmother's house in 90 minutes x 1/2 mile per minute=45 miles, which is the distance between his house and his grandmother's.
