Out of 8 boys and 6 girls in a high school, a team of seven students is selected. What is the probability that three boys and four girls are selected? In your response, include an explanation and all of the calculations necessary to determine the probability.

hi Bleh,

I can see you have good manners and you are trying to learn, so I will try to help you   laugh

Out of 8 boys and 6 girls in a high school, a team of seven students is selected. What is the probability that three boys and four girls are selected?

There are 14C7 ways to chose 7 students

nCr(14,7) = 3432

Now, there are 8C3 ways to choose 3 boys and 6C4 ways to choose 4 girls

Multiply those together and you get how many ways to shoose 3 boys and 4 girls.

nCr(8,3)*nCr(6,4)= 840

So the prob of getting 3 boys and 4 girls is  \( \frac{840}{3432}= \frac{35}{143}\)
