How do you solve for this?

On your wedding day your lover gives you a gold ring of mass 3.7 g. 45 years later its mass is 3.3 g. On the average how many atoms were abrated from the ring during each second of your marriage? The atomic mass of gold is 197 u.

197 grams of gold corresponds to 6.022810^23 atoms

0.4 grams of gold corresponds to 6.022*10^23*0.4/197 atoms  ≈ 1.2*10^21 atoms

Just figure out the number of seconds in 45 years as follows:

45 X 365.25 X 24 X 60 X 60 =1,420,092,000 number of seconds in 45 years.

[1.2 X 10^21] / 1,420,092,000=845,015,675,041 atoms abrated every second.
