Vanessa will graph the lines y = 1/3x + 7 and y = 2x+5. What is the sum of the x-coordinates of the two lines' x-intercepts? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.

you couls mathematically solve them, or just use desmos

for $y = \frac{1}{3}x + 7$ the x value is $-21$ and for $ y = 2x+5$ the x value is $-2.5$

*What is the sum of the x-coordinates of the two lines' x-intercepts?*

$-21+-2.5=\boxed{-23.5}$

At the x axis intercepts, the value of y = 0

First one:           0 = 1/3x + 7       x = -21

Second one :     0 = 2x+5            x = - 5/2                    sum = - 23 1/2
