If we let 1 be the radius of the inner yellow circle, then the yellow area = pi (2*1)^2 = 4 pi
The colored area has a radius of 8
Its area is pi (8)^2 = 64 pi
The outermost cirlcle has a radius of 10.....the whole figure has an area of (10)^2 pi = 100 pi
So....the outermost white area = (100 -64) pi = 36pi
So the ratio of the white area to the yellow area = 36pi/4pi = 9 : 1
