When the ball hits the ground , h = 0

so solve     0 = 1+15t -5t^2      for 't' using the Quadratic Formula    where a = -5    b = 15     c = 1       Throw out the negative 't' value

 

greatest height will occur at the 't' value = - b/2a        Use this value of 't' in the height equation to calculate the greatest height.
