If I give my brother 5 dollars, then we will have the same amount of money. If instead, he gives me 14 dollars, then I'll have three times as much money as he will have. How much money does my brother currently have (in dollars)?
If we call the amount of money you have \(x\)
And the amount of money your brother has as \(y \)
Then we have the following equations:
\(x-5=y+5 \)
\(x+14=3(y-14)\)
We can solve this pretty easily,
\(x=43, y=33\)

Your brother currently has 33$
If I give my sister 5 dollars, then we will have the same amount of money. If instead she gives me 8 dollars, then I'll have twice as much money as she has. How much money does she have? Khol's Survey
