question 2 & 3 i need help with please especially number 2 i get half way through and get confused with the turning points
For number 2: Since the zeros occur at -2, 1, 3, and 4, the values are: a = -2, b = 1, c = 3, and d = 4.
This will create the function: y = A(x + 2)(x -1)(x - 3)(x - 4)
To find the value of A: Since the value of y = 4 when x = 0, place these into the function:
y = A(x + 2)(x -1)(x - 3)(x - 4) ---> 4 = A(0 + 2)(0 -1)(0 - 3)(0 - 4)
Simplifying ---> 4 = A(2)(-1)(-3)(-4)
4 = A(-24)
Dividing by -24 ---> -1/6 = A
In question 2, you can't say explicitly what the values of a,b,c and d are.
You can say that a takes one of the values, -2,1,3 or 4, then, having chosen(?) a value for a, b can take any of the three remaining values, and then c either of the two remaining values leaving d to be the last one.
