b. After the fifth inning of the same game the score was 2 - 2. How many different evolutions of the score are possible.

c. The basketbal final in 2010 between the Celtics and the Lakers was played with a best-of-seven system, where they play seven games to determine the winner. The Lakers eventually won the final with an endscore of 4 - 3. Calculate the amount of evolutions of the score for this best-of-seven.

Wait, so for the first question why cant we do this:

****B****B****B**** (because A got 4 points and B got 3) and then the answer will be 16 choose 4=1820

That is a very good question.

It seems my logic is rubbish.

I did say at the very beginning that I was not sure if it was right.

I should have tested that for myself.

It is excellent that you did not just take my word for it.

I will play around with it for a bit to see if I can work out why my logic is flawed.

I have said all those star postions are different but they are not.  I think I can fix this.

We have 7 scores. and I want to know how many places I can slot in 3 Celtic scores between the 4 Lakers ones. That is 7C3 = 35

or

We have 7 scores. and I want to know how many places I can slot in 4 Celtic scores between the 3 Lakers ones. That is 7C4 = 35

LLCC   4C2=6      then    LLC     3C1=3

6*3=18
