A standard six-sided die is rolled twice. What is the probability that the product of the rolls is 12?
There are 4 ways of getting a product of 12 on a toss of dice as follows:
[2 x 6], [6 x 2], [3 x 4], [4 x 3] = 4 ways
The probability is: 4 / 6^2 = 4 / 36 =1 / 9
Probability of getting a 2 on one roll is 1 out of 6. If we roll the dice again it is the same probability 1 out of 6. Therefore, probability of 1/6 and 1/6 (where and means multiply), we have 1/6 X 1/6 which equals 1/36 (Multiply straight across the top and straight across the bottom). Monkey.cool
